A report by the Welsh Cancer Intelligence and Surveillance Unit, September 2006 entitled, Cancer in Wales 1992 -2006: A Comprehensive Report shows that Merthyr Tydfil has significantly higher rates of cancer registrations for all malignancies [except skin] although there are great variations in the types of cancer reported.
