There are regular special events held in the Town Centre throughout the year. The aim of the events is to bring a different shopping experience to the town, through entertainment and visiting markets.

Spring Food Festival

10.00am-14.00pm at High Street, Merthyr Tydfil
19th March 2010
A whole host of food producers from the locality will be visiting the town to promote fresh, local produce. You will have the opportunity to taste a selection of food from across the region as well as the opportunity to win a hamper of goodies from the producers. The event will include cooking demonstrations and food themed entertainment. More information on this event to follow.

Farmers Market

10.00 - 2.00pm at High Street
Good Friday - Friday 2nd April 2010
www.merthyrfarmersmarket.org.uk A selection of stalls selling fresh produce from within 50 miles of Merthyr Tydfil. This month's confirmed attendees, so far are: Deli Cymru - A selection of cheese, butter, salts, honey and olives are made locally. Plus a new range of vegetarian foods. Trecastle Eggs - Free range hens eggs, and duck eggs when available. Mayonnaise now available! Fairtrade Merthyr - A selection of Fairtrade products, including chocolate, cereals and biscuits. Plus free tea and coffee. Glanhonddu Pork - Pork, bacon, and sausage all farmed in Brecon. Merthyr Tydfil Heritage - books and memorabilia focusing on the area. Avril's Country Kitchen - Homemade jam's, pickles, chutney's and sauces. Enterprising Art - Local crafts for sale from a different artist every week. Taste - Gateaux's and patisserie items Cookies and Cakes - Homemade breads, cakes and pies. Cig Mynydd Cymru - Locally reared beef and lamb, plus freshly cooked burgers to take away. Plant 2 Plate - A wide selection of luxury meals ready for you to take home.
