Merthyr Tydfil is the regional forerunner in retail for the heads of the valleys area.

Merthyr has attracted both local shoppers and worldwide tourists for many years due to exclusive local independent stores and renowned high street brands based in the town and for the surrounding scenery and activities.

As well as the high street stores there is a daily indoor market, twice weekly outdoor market that has a variety of offers for all shoppers and tourists as well as the fantastic farmers market on the first Friday of every month which supplies the town centre with fair-trade goods, locally sourced foods such as eggs, pork, bacon and sausages and even jewellery handmade from Glamorgan gates.
