Merthyr Tydfil is a multicultural, multifaith community. Across the borough of Merthyr Tydfil Christianity is the most practiced faith, but there are a wide range of faiths practiced by residents. We recognise that there are people who hold non-religious beliefs too.
The authority does not provide advice to the community on specific religions but we want to work to create equal access for everyone to our services, irrespective of religious beliefs or non-belief.
The BBC has a useful guide to different faiths and has an up to date religious calendar which you can access from the external links section of this page.
The Council recognises that people have different needs, requirements and goals and we will work actively against all forms of discrimination by promoting good relations and mutual respect within and between our communities, residents, elected members, job applicants and workforce.
