Description
To assist the Operations Librarian to lead, manage and co-ordinate operations matters in the Library Service, ensuring delivery of high quality, effective, customer-focussed services to the community.
To assist with the management, development and motivation of staff within the area of responsibility
To be responsible for matters relating to buildings and mobile libraries in the absence of the Operations Librarian
Assist the Operations Librarian with managing budgets for the area of responsibility
Responsible to: Principal Librarian.
To assist with the work of the Operational teams and work in close partnership with colleagues and other teams to ensure the effective provision and delivery of customer focused services.
To contribute to policy development and forward planning for the service and to ensure the effective delivery and implementation of Library Service policies, objectives and developments.
To assist in the promotion and marketing of the Library Service to ensure maximum take-up of services by the community, including attendance at events outside normal working hours on occasion as required.
To be responsible for the presentation and appearance of libraries and mobiles in the area and the physical appearance of the stock and contents.
To assist with the management of resources to secure maximum library user satisfaction and achievement of service standards, targets and defined performance outcomes.
To assist with the training and development of staff.
To assist with the deployment of operations staff, ensuring that agreed levels of operational staff are provided.
To assist with the monitoring of staff performance and absence control.
To have some responsibility for matters relating to building and library vehicle maintenance, health and safety and security, working with Library Managers, partners and contractors as necessary.
