Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council’s Sports Development Unit is part of the Leisure Services department and is based at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre.

The unit has a key role to play in supporting the Council overarching vision and supports its aims and objectives via the development of opportunities for participation in Sport and Physical Activity.

Officers are involved in developing a range of opportunities such as Dragon Sport, 5 x 60, Disability Sport, Rugby and Netball development and the team take the lead for developing the Merthyr Tydfil Sport and Physical Activity Plan (LAPA).
