Subsidised Pass Plus Cymru courses are available for 17 - 25 year old drivers giving 6 hours of valuable driving.
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council have for a number of years run Pass Plus Cymru courses aimed at tackling the high rate of young drivers and passengers killed and injured on the road.
What is Pass Plus Cymru?
Pass Plus Cymru is a specially enhanced Pass Plus course you can take after passing your test. By building on your driving skill, knowledge and hazard awareness, the course will help to reduce your risk of being involved in a crash and you could qualify for a discount with many insurance companies.
The Pass Plus Cymru course builds on the Driving Standards Agency's Pass Plus programme and includes a group interactive two and a half hour discussion forum and practical in car training by qualified advanced driving instructors.
The Pass Plus scheme covers :
- Town Driving
- Rural Driving
- All weather Driving
- Night Driving
- Driving on Dual Carriageway
- Motorway Driving
- Also covered are hazard awareness, concentration, speed, drugs and drink driving, safe attitudes and behaviour.

The cost of the course is £20 and is subsidised by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council as a result of Welsh Government funding.
