When carrying out any building work/maintenance or removal of any part of a property that is next to the public highway (road, pavement or rear lane), the safety of all users of the highway must be paramount.

Scaffolding Companies

All scaffolding companies intending to apply for permission to erect scaffolding or hoarding on the highway must provide a copy of their current Public Liability Insurance (minimum £2,000,000). After the insurance expiry date they must forward a copy of their renewed insurance.

At least 14 days notice must be given when applying for permission and no scaffolding or hoarding must be erected until this has been granted.
