When Do I Have to Pay My Business Rates?

The date you must pay your instalment each month is shown on your Business Rates Demand notice.This is normally the 1st of each month, unless paying by Direct Debit.

If you pay in a Bank or Post Office, or send your payment through the post, please remember that we will not receive your payments for a few days. Please allow for this delay when making your payment using this method.

How can I pay my Business Rates Bill?
a. In Full on or before the 1st April
b. In Two instalments on the 1st April and 1st October
c. By Ten or Twelve monthly instalments from 1st April.

Payment Methods

Direct Debits (Online) - ACCESS YOUR BUSINESS RATES ACCOUNT ONLINE
Direct Debits can now be set up / amended over the internet through your Business Rates Online Account. 

You will need:

Business Rates account reference No.
Bank account details

This is a quick and easy way to pay your business rates and you will be offered three dates on which to make your payment (the 1st, 10th or 20th of each month), and also have the option to pay over 10 or 12 months. 

All the normal Direct Debit safeguards and guarantees apply.
No changes in the amount, date or frequency to be debited can be made without notifying you at least 10 working days in advance of your account being debited.

In the event of any error, you're entitled to an immediate refund from your bank or building society.

You have the right to cancel a Direct Debit instruction at any time simply by writing to your bank or building society.

E-Payments
Pay your Business Rates online
You will need your: Business Rates Account No and a valid credit / debit card.

In addition you can also pay your Council Invoices, Council Tax, BIDS and Housing Benefit Overpayments through any of the above methods. 

Telephone
Pay over the telephone by calling the Automated Payment Line, which is available on (01685) 725115, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will need to give your card details, your account number, and the amount you wish to pay.

Payment of Council Invoices and Council Tax can also be made through this system.

Post Office and PayPoint outlets
You can use your bar coded documentation to pay your Business Rates at any Post Office or PayPoint outlets.

Contact Centre
The Contact Centre within the Civic Centre is available for customers to call in and see a member of staff during normal opening hours (see opening hours below) and discuss matters relating Business Rates or Business Rates Improvement District (BIDS).
