Council Insurance Claims

Insurance claims submitted by third parties against the Council are handled by the Insurance Section. 

Making a claim does not automatically entitle you to compensation for damage or injuries. The basis for the claim is that there has been fault on the part of the Council. It is therefore necessary for you to prove that the Council is  legally liable for your loss.

Details of our Public Liability and Employers' Liability Insurers

From the 1st April 2016 Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is insured by Aspen Insurance for public and employers' liability insurance; our policy number is l0A6HNT16A0U (EL) / l0A6HNT16B0U (PL).

Third party solicitors are required to submit claims for injury post 31st July 2013 via the claims portal.

The deliberate provision of false or misleading information will always be reported to the police for investigation and action will be taken to recover costs.
