Electoral Review

The Commission published its Final Recommendations for the future electoral arrangements for the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil and submitted them to Welsh Government Ministers on 29 October 2019

The Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales has conducted a review of the electoral arrangements of the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil and published their Final Recommendations Report.

There are no proposals to change the number of wards so they will remain at 11, but they have made changes in three of the wards which results in the council going from 33 councillors down to 30 councillors.  They also made small amendments to the Welsh electoral ward names in the Merthyr Vale (Ynysowen), Park (Parc) and Vaynor (Faenor) Wards.

These changes will take effect from the next Local Government Election which will be held in May 2022.
