Police and Crime Commissioner Election

A Police and Crime Commissioner Election is taking place on Thursday 2 May 2024.  

You will need to show photo ID when voting in person for this election.

Key Dates

  • Poll cards will be issued the last week of March 2024.
  • Deadline to register to vote – Tuesday 16th of April 2024
  • Deadline to apply for a postal vote – Wednesday the 17th of April 2024
  • Deadline to apply for a proxy vote (not postal proxy) – Wednesday 24th of April 2024
  • Deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate - Wednesday 24 April 2024
  • You can apply to electoral@merthyr.gov.uk for an emergency proxy vote up to 5pm on election day but only in exceptional circumstances.
  • The Count for the Police and Crime Commissioner Election will take place on Friday 3 of May 2024.
