Christmas lights switch-on in Treharris

Local residents, as usual, were out in force for this week’s Christmas lights switch-on in Treharris town centre.
A host of seasonal activities included a performance by local folk group Fiddler’s Elbow, alongside a range of stalls run by groups including Treharris Boys and Girls Club and local residents.
Treharris Male Voice Choir led the carol singing at St Matthias Church, and the congregation was also treated to mince pies, mulled wine and a visit from Santa.
The event was jointly organised by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and St Matthias Church, and the lights at Treharris Square were switched on by Mayor Cllr Howard Barrett.
