Just days left to apply for Ffos-y-fran funding
Merthyr Tydfil voluntary and community groups have only a few days left to apply for funding of up to £5,000.
The closing date for applications to the Ffos-y-fran Intermediate Fund, which makes grants available to organisations across the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil, is next Tuesday, 12 September.
All applications must support local community projects with an educational, environmental or leisure emphasis. The project must be based in and benefit local residents and meet one or more of the themes within the Merthyr Tydfil Single Integrated Plan:
Grants are for revenue/capital costs. There is no minimum threshold but the maximum amount awarded is £5,000. Match funding is a requirement and can be cash or in-kind contributions.
The Ffos-y-fran Community Benefit Fund was established by the Council in
collaboration with local mining company Miller Argent, which donates £1 for every ton of coal sold from the Ffos-y-fran land reclamation scheme. More than £5m has been awarded to a wide range of groups and causes since the site opened in 2007.
