Rural Development

Rural Development Programme

The Rural Development Plan for Wales is part of a European & Welsh Government Programme which aims to promote community development, improve competitiveness in the agriculture and forestry sector and safeguard and enhance the rural environment.

There are a number of elements to the Rural Programme including a community led programme called “The Rural Action Cwm Taf LEADER Programme”. Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council administer the programme which covers specific areas in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The Rural Cwm Taf Local Action Group will ensure the programme delivers projects identified as being most needed within rural communities under certain Welsh Government specified themes.
