Kerbside household battery collections

You can now recycle used household batteries at the kerbside as part of your weekly recycling scheme in small purple battery recycling bags provided by the Council.

Purple bags can be collected from local libraries and community centres, either of the Household Waste and Recycling Centres in Dowlais or Aberfan or from the new reuse shop ‘A New Lease of Life’ which is based at Unit 20, Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park, Pentrebach, Merthyr Tydfil CF48 4DR

Please place any of batteries shown in the image below into the bag and place the bag out for collection on top of your recycling box on your normal recycling collection day.

Household batteries contain hazardous materials and should never be placed into your wheeled non-recyclable waste bin. The Council will collect your batteries and send them to a reprocessor so they can be recycled in the correct way and this will prevent the chances of the batteries polluting our local environment.
