Lifeline Charging Structure

Lifeline peace of mind services are offered to residents within the Merthyr County Borough and wider.  We have a series of set charges for our lifeline equipment and support service.

Merthyr Residents

Lifeline equipment for disabled residents can be rented and monitored for 0.36p per day (£130 per year) plus VAT £26.00. If you are disabled you may be exempt from paying the VAT charge of £26.00 (please note: evidence maybe required).

If you are not disabled you will be charged 0.42p per day (£152.00 per year).

We do not charge for new installations & setups within our County Borough.

Non Merthyr Residents

Lifeline equipment for disabled residents can be rented and monitored for 0.36p per day (£130 per year) plus VAT £26.00.  If you are disabled you may be exempt from paying the VAT charge of £26.00 (please note: evidence maybe required).

If you are not disabled you will be charged 0.42p per day (£152.00 per year).

To cover travel and staff costs, there is a £45.00 one off fee for new installations & setups.  This is to be paid prior to equipment installation.

We will not charge for any collections or equipment repairs.

Additional and Replacement equipment

  • Pendants - flat rate of £52.00
  • Wrist straps - flat rate of £20.00
  • Power leads - flat rate of £26.00

Invoicing and payment

You will be receive an invoice shortly after the installation of your equipment. If the service starts after the 1st April 20xx you will charged pro-rata to the 31st March 20xx, subsequent invoices will be issued to you annually in March for the forthcoming financial year and will then be charged the full annual fee for this service. If you have opted to pay through Direct Debit monthly payments will be requested on the 1st of each month. We will notify you in writing at least 10 days prior to the first instalment being requested. You can opt to have your documentation electronically. A copy of your invoice will be mailed to you preferred email address. 

If you opt not to make payments through Direct Debit, you must make the payment in a timely manner as stipulated on the invoice that will be issued to you.

  • Direct Debit (monthly 1st of the month)
  • Post Offices / Paypoint outlets using the barcoded invoice.

  • Online - www.merthyr.gov.uk/Pay *

* To be able to make a payment you will need your Customer ID and Invoice No.

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council reserves the right to uplift charges in line with inflation each year.
