Health Visiting and Midwifery Service
What is enhanced Health Visiting and Midwifery service?
The Flying Start Health Team consists of Health Visitors, Midwife, Midwife Support Worker, Community Nursery Nurses and Speech and Language Therapist.
The Flying Start Midwife works in close partnership with the health visitors and Community Nursery Nurses with the aim of improving health outcomes for pregnant women and their unborn child.
The Flying Start Midwife Support Worker provides support and advice to pregnant women to help them to smoke smoking.
Health Visitors help to support parents to improve life and health outcomes for their children, they work holistically with families to enhance parenting skills by discussing various health topics. The health visiting service can help with identifying as early as possible health needs and developmental delay in children.
The Community Nursery Nurses provide support for children, at home or in group settings. This may include supporting children to achieve milestones such as toilet training, weaning and good language and communication skills.
The Flying Start Speech and Language Therapist works with professionals and families to provide information and support on improving children's speech, language and communication skills.
The Flying Start Health Team facilitates various groups, including:
- Antenatal sessions
- Parenting groups
- Baby massage
- Baby splash
- Happy Babes
