Register a Building of Worship

To certify a building as a place of worship, two forms 76 (available from the register office) must be completed and returned to the register office together with the fee of £28. If the forms are in order, the building will be recorded as a place of worship on the list maintained at General Register Office.

A duly certified place of worship may be registered for the solemnisation of marriages. The applicant must complete and return two forms 78 (available from the register office). The fee for this purpose is £120. If the application is approved, the building will be certified by General Register Office for the solemnisation of marriages.
