can you please provide me with a number of current empty homes in the council area please? Also do the owners currently pay council tax on the empty homes

As of 14th March 2024 there are 906 empty properties on CTAX records There are time limited exemptions available for empty properties, we can provide the examples below: Class A exemption – an unoccupied and unfurnished property requiring or undergoing major repair. 12 month exemption available. After the exemption expires the property becomes subject to a 100% premium charge Class C exemption – An Unoccupied and unfurnished property Maximum 6 month exemption, once the 6 months has expired a full council tax charge is payable. If the property remains unoccupied and unfurnished at 12 months becomes subject to a 100% premium charge Unoccupied but furnished property Up to 31 March 2024 – a full council tax charge is payable From 1 April 2024 - subject to a 100 premium charge.
