New Playgrounds: The number of new playgrounds opened. There are no new playground sites opened in the borough between the above dates, but we have had 7 playgrounds in total refurbished between these requested dates as follows: 2023/24 Moy Road (Sutcliffe) 21/12/23 Edwardsville (Sutcliffe) 07/12/23 Prospect Place (Sutcliffe) 21/12/23 Trefechan (Dragon Play) 21/03/24 Castle Park (Dragon Play) 22/02/24 Thomastown Park (Sutcliffe) 22/02/24 Treharris Park (Sutcliffe) 22/02/24 3. Reports of Vandalism: The total number of vandalism reports in playgrounds. If available, provide details of the types of vandalism reported (e.g., graffiti, damage to equipment). There are 92 reports of vandalism in the local authority playgrounds between the above dates (I have attached the list from our Childs play inspection programme), it doesn’t list all the types, but the common vandalism to our playgrounds is Graffiti on play equipment, fencing, gates and signage, smashed glass bottles on play surfaces and equipment, damage to the wetpour/tiles safer floor surface, and damage to play equipment. 4. Number of Injuries in Play Parks: The total number of injuries reported in playgrounds, broken down by type of injury. If available, a breakdown of injuries by specific equipment (e.g., swings, slides, climbing frames). The only injuries reported during this period have been 2 x minor head injuries that have occurred, one was on a large rock in the natural play grass bank area of the playground and one was collision with a Hydraulic main entrance gate. 5. Inspection Frequency: The frequency with which playgrounds are inspected by the council. The inspection Frequency of the playgrounds is as follows: Visual inspections every 2 -3 weeks, Operational inspections every 4 months and visual site inspection carried out every time the playground fitter attends site to repair/maintain a playground site.
