Re: Details in respect to the recycling of paper and cardboard waste contracts. • Who is the current supplier? • Are there any processing facilities or MRFs utilised within the contract if so what the names and addresses? • How is your fibre processed (baled or loose)? • Where is the end destination of the fibre? • What tonnage per year do you produce by fibre grade? • Start date & duration of framework/contract? • Who is the senior officer (outside of procurement) responsible for this contract? • Are there any plans to change the existing service due to the Simpler Recycling legislation?

• Our current contractor is Plan B. • Plan B are responsible for the reprocessing of materials. Further information can be found on their website: Managed Services - Plan B Management Solutions • Our cardboard is baled and paper is kept loose • The fibre has various destinations which are publicly available at https://myrecyclingwales.org.uk/local_authorities/merthyr-tydfil • In 23/24 we produced 108 tonnes of paper and 2534.59 tonnes of cardboard we are still finalizing data for 24/25 • The contract started on the 12/02/24 for a term of 12 months with the option to extend for up to 24 months. • Paul Davies, Head of Waste Services • The Simpler recycling legislation is for England and does not include Wales as our materials are already source separated.
