Question
Re: Regarding the commissioning of social care services by your local authority. Specifically, I would like to know: 1. Do you only commission social care services that pay their workers the Real Living Wage (RLW)? 2. If so, please provide details on the policies and procedures in place to ensure compliance with this requirement. 3. If not, please explain the criteria used for commissioning social care services and any plans to implement the RLW for all commissioned services. 4. Has the approach to commissioning social care services at the RLW changed across the following years: 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26? If so, please provide details of these changes. 5. Does the local authority ensure that its social care commissioners commit to a broader set of principles, as set out by the Fair Work Commission, to ensure that the RLW administration is successful and that social care workers are recognised as valued professionals providing a vital public service? 6. How does the local authority monitor compliance with the RLW requirement among commissioned social care providers? 7. Has the local authority conducted any impact assessments or evaluations to measure the effectiveness of implementing the RLW in social care services? 8. Has the local authority gathered feedback from social care workers and providers regarding the RLW implementation? If so, please provide details of this feedback. 9. Please provide any relevant documents, reports, or communications that outline the authority's approach to the RLW for social care services.
