Please provide the total number of CONTACTS received by Children’s Social Care Services each year in the last ten years (where figures are available).

For the avoidance of doubt, this refers to all contacts (by phone, emial, webform or in person) made by individuals or agencies. We are NOT requesting “Referrals” (as detailed in table C1 of the Dept for Education’s Children in Need tables (https://explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk/find-statistics/children-in-need/2025). Based on available data we have from some local authorities they have received a ratio of between 5 and 10 contacts for each referral recorded.

For the 2021 – 22 financial year as there was a change in the performance framework metrics Welsh government ask us for we had to incorporate a new business process to count our contacts therefore data is only available from the 2021 – 22 Financial year in the financial year format ( 01/04/2021 – 31/03/2022 , 01/04/2022 – 31/03/2023 etc.
2021 – 2022 = 5600 Contacts
2022 – 2023 = 7378 Contacts
2023 – 2024 = 7615 Contacts
2024 – 2025 = 6260 Contacts
2025 – 2026 = Data is not yet available. we report on this data annually in May.
