1. The total number of council housing properties currently vacant as of March 01 2026

2. A breakdown of these vacant properties by the following categories:

o Awaiting inspection / survey

o Awaiting or in need of repair

o Works in progress

o Completed works but awaiting allocation / tenancy offer

o Held for decant

o Pending redevelopment / major capital works

o Any other category used by the authority

3. For each category, please indicate:

o Number of homes vacant >6 months

o Number of homes vacant >12 months

o Number of homes vacant >24 months

o Number of homes vacant >5 years (if applicable)

4. Any information on average re-let time or the standard target timeframe for void turnaround.

If final audited figures are not available, please provide the latest internal management accounting position. I would prefer the information in electronic format.

Explanatory Notes – Void Stage Definitions

• Awaiting inspection / survey: Vacated properties that have not yet received an initial survey to determine required works.

• Awaiting / in need of repair: Properties identified as requiring work but where repair has not yet started.

• Works in progress: Properties where repair or refurbishment work has commenced.

• Completed works / awaiting allocation: Properties that are ready to let but have not yet been assigned to a tenant.

• Held for decant: Properties temporarily vacated to allow current residents to move as part of larger works.

• Pending redevelopment / major capital works: Properties awaiting major investment or regeneration schemes

As of April 2009 all council houses and housing files were transferred to a private company, Merthyr Valley Homes.
