Answer
1. Does the school have a written policy regarding external groups and individuals who speak and deliver sessions at the school? If so, please provide a copy of this written policy.
The school does not hold a standalone policy relating specifically to external speakers. The safeguarding and suitability of external visitors is managed through the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, Prevent Duty arrangements, and Health and Safety procedures.
2. Does the school have a written policy regarding external groups and speakers with a religious ethos who visit the school? If so, please provide a copy of this written policy.
The school does not hold a separate written policy specifically relating to visitors with a religious ethos. Any such visits are managed in line with safeguarding procedures, curriculum requirements and statutory guidance on Religious Education / Relationships and Sexuality Education.
3. Does the school keep records of sessions delivered by external groups and speakers?
The school does not maintain a centralised record of all sessions delivered by external groups. Relevant records may exist within curriculum planning documentation, safeguarding records, or visitor sign in logs where appropriate.
4. Does the school inform parents regarding sessions and visits by external groups and speakers?
Parents are informed of sessions and visits by external groups where appropriate, in line with safeguarding requirements and the school’s communication procedures. Where statutory rights apply (for example, collective worship or specific elements of Relationships and Sexuality Education), parents are informed accordingly.
5. Please confirm any religious groups or speakers which have visited the school in the last 5 years.
The school does not hold a complete retrospective list of religious visitors covering the last five years.
6. Does the school inform parents of any visits by external religious groups or individuals, so they can exercise their legal right to withdraw their children from these sessions?
Under the Curriculum for Wales, Religion, Values and Ethics (RVE) is a mandatory element of the curriculum and there is no parental right of withdrawal. Parents retain the right to withdraw their child from collective worship, and from specific elements of Relationships and Sexuality Education, in line with statutory guidance. Where such rights apply, parents are informed accordingly.
7. Have chaplaincy services been provided at the school in the last 5 years. If so, by what organisation?
