Ateb

1. Inspections and maintenance

The total number of playground inspections carried out per year.

The total number of playground inspections per year is:

We do not hold specific inspection guidance documents or formal policies that explicitly reference corrosion, rust, or metal degradation.

Inspections are carried out by trained officers in line with recognised industry good practice. This includes consideration of asset condition and safety, and any defects such as corrosion, rust, or general material degradation would be identified and recorded as part of routine inspections.

A blank copy of the inspection sheet currently in use is provided.

2. Recorded defects

The number of recorded maintenance issues or defects relating to playground equipment, broken down by year.

We do not maintain maintenance issues or defects as a separate reportable dataset. Where an issue is identified, a works order is raised and managed through operational systems.

We therefore do not hold information showing the number of recorded maintenance issues or defects broken down by year.

3. Complaints from the public

The number of complaints received relating to playground equipment described as:

2023 – 3 Complaints

2024 – 1 Complaint

2025 – 1 Complaint

Total – 5

4. Incidents and injuries

The number of reported incidents or accidents in council-managed playgrounds, per year.

2020 – 1

2021 – 2

2024 – 1

None relate to damage, corrosion , or wear.

5. Maintenance response

We do not hold specific policies or service standards setting out fixed repair timeframes or criteria for removing unsafe equipment.

Maintenance is managed operationally, with defects identified through inspections and assessed on a case-by-case basis, considering risk and public safety.

Where equipment is identified as unsafe, appropriate action is taken, including making safe, restricting access, or removing it from use until repairs are completed.
