Question
In respect of the Free School Meals (FSM) offering for years 7 and 8 at school,
1. when did applications open (if applicable) for the FSM provision following the Welsh Government announcement in June that parents would be able to apply from 1st September 2026.
2. Were any applicants who were in receipt of Universal Credit, rejected (even if this was an initial rejection which was subsequently corrected) on or after 1st September for exceeding an income threshold.
3. If the answer to 2 was yes how many applicatons were incorrectly (initially rejected) rejected.
4. At the time of answering this FOI request what is the expected date that FSM provision will be made available across schools in your area.
Answer
1. Applications opened 14th September.
2. No applications have been rejected.
3.Not Applicable.
4. Year 7 pupils are already receiving a meal, with Year 8 expected 3rd November (after half term)
