Question
55 CARDIFF ROAD, TROEDYRHIW, MERTHYR TYDFIL, CF48 4JZ
What standard of vegetation maintenance the Authority applies to its own landholdings in Merthyr and how frequently it is carried out;
- how many notices or warning letters under the 1949 Act have been issued to private owners in this ward in the last 24 months, and how many complaints about council-owned land have been received and acted upon over the same period.
Answer
1. What standard of vegetation maintenance the Authority applies to its own landholdings in Merthyr
The Council does not apply a single standard of vegetation maintenance across all of its landholdings. The maintenance regime depends upon the nature, location and use of the land concerned.
For example, vegetation associated with the highway is maintained primarily to ensure highway safety, including maintaining visibility at junctions and keeping signs and pedestrian routes clear. The Council advises that a strip of highway verge approximately one metre wide is cut on either side of the road, with most rural verges receiving a limited cut once a year in recognition of their biodiversity value. Grass cutting more generally is undertaken throughout the growing season, with the precise maintenance regime varying according to the site.
In relation specifically to land at 55 Cardiff Road, Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 4JZ, the Council has not identified recorded information establishing a separate vegetation-maintenance standard applicable to this particular site.
2. and how frequently it is carried out;
The frequency of vegetation maintenance varies according to the nature, location and use of the land. In relation specifically to 55 Cardiff Road, Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 4JZ, the Council does not hold a recorded maintenance schedule or prescribed frequency for this location.
3. how many notices or warning letters under the 1949 Act have been issued to private owners in this ward in the last 24 months –
The Council has issued one notice or warning letter during the period specified.
