Cwestiwn
I am writing on behalf of the Women’s Rights Network in Wales (WRN) to request information regarding the provision of toilet facilities for student use at Pen-Y-Dre High School.
I would be grateful if you could confirm whether the premises provides separate single-sex toilet blocks, mixed-sex (also referred to as unisex or gender-neutral) facilities, or both.
Where separate single-sex toilet blocks are in place, please confirm whether you operate a policy that permits students to use facilities of the opposite sex where a student indicates a preference to do so.
I would appreciate a response within ten working days of the date of this correspondence. If you are not the appropriate contact for this enquiry, I would be grateful if you could forward this email to the relevant staff member at your earliest convenience.

1. Please confirm whether the premises provides separate single-sex toilet blocks, mixed-sex (also referred to as unisex or gender-neutral) facilities, or both.
Pen y Dre High School is currently undergoing Welsh Government Sustainable Communities for Learning refurbishment and is currently being built around phases. As it stands the school currently operates single sex toilets with unisex handwashing facilities that are designated a side for each sex.
2. Where separate single-sex toilet blocks are in place, please confirm whether you operate a policy that permits students to use facilities of the opposite sex where a student indicates a preference to do so
If a pupil from a different gender wants to use the opposite gender toilets, the wellbeing team is notified and appropriate adjustments are agreed with the pupils and parents / guardians.
