Ffair Nadolig

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is thrilled to promote our annual Welsh Language celebration event Ffair Nadolig on Saturday 2 December 2023, from 10am to 4pm in Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre.

This festive, free, fun for all the family event, run jointly by the Local Authority and local Welsh language partners, aims to ignite a passion for the Welsh language, to inspire and encourage everyone to embrace basic phrases like "shwmae," "bore da," and "sut wyt ti."

Talented young people from our Merthyr schools will be performing some festive favourites to get everyone in the spirit of Christmas.

Don’t miss the chance to support local businesses while you explore an assortment of delightful traditional Welsh stalls with arts, crafts and delicious treats for sale. Take part in interactive workshops to learn more about Siared Cymraeg in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Children lucky enough to be at the fair will be invited to meet the one and only Sion Corn and share their Christmas wish lists with him – a magical experience too good to miss!

Welsh Language Champion, Councillor Michelle Symonds said,
“I am looking forward to our second Ffair Nadolig this December. Once again, this event is an opportunity to use the Welsh Language within a relaxed, fun and informal environment. The atmosphere will be merry with many local schools performing Christmas songs for everyone to enjoy. There will be a chance to explore and purchase unique crafts and gifts, all with a Welsh twist. Please join us for what will be a fun, fabulous, festive event for all the family.”

Don't miss out on this extraordinary celebration of Welsh culture and language. Bring your family and friends and let’s make this a day to remember.
