The Leader of the Council, Cllr Geraint Thomas, has spoken out against the increase in car related anti-social behaviour in Merthyr Tydfil:
Community tensions are rising following last week’s tragic event where we lost a valuable member of our community. On behalf of myself and the Council our thoughts and prayers are with Cath’s family and friends at this very sad time.
Car-related anti-social behaviour within Merthyr Tydfil has escalated and this must be stopped immediately. I have urgently requested confirmation from the police on what their strategy is to stop this before we see another fatal incident.
Through our CCTV coverage all acts of anti-social behaviour are immediately reported to the police, however, laws continue to be broken. We rely on our Police Force to enforce the law, so, as Leader of the Council I will be writing today to Alun Michael, South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner, to immediately respond to our urgent request to keep our residents safe.
