Councillor Paula Layton raises an incredible £21,000 for local charities

Today (Wednesday 13th May) marks Councillor Paula Layton’s final day as Mayor of Merthyr Tydfil.
In her Mayoral year, Cllr Layton attended over 75 external events and welcomed over 600 people into the Mayor’s Parlour, including local volunteers and charity organisations.
Cllr Layton also raised over £21,000 for her two charities; Macmillan Cancer Support Merthyr and Central Beacons Mountain Rescue, through charity quizzes, cake sales, raffles, and fundraising events.
Cllr Layton, said: “This year has been filled with challenges, surprises, laughter, and a great deal of heart. Thank you for the memories and for the distinct honour of allowing me to serve as your Mayor.”

Councillor David Isaac will be inaugurated as the incoming Mayor of Merthyr Tydfil at this afternoon’s Annual General Meeting.
