On the morning of Thursday 18th December 2025 Merthyr Tydfil Trading Standards, assisted by Officers from South Wales Police, executed three search warrants on properties in Merthyr Tydfil in relation to the sale of Counterfeit Goods.
Hundreds of items were seized which included clothing, footwear, cosmetics, electrical items, watches, fragrances and toys bearing the Trademarks of Apple, Rolex, Nike, Prada, Canda Goose, Ugg, Moncler and others with a street value of tens of thousands of pounds.
£8,000 in cash was also seized.
A male was arrested as part of the investigation.
The Councils Cabinet Member for Public Protection, Declan Sammon, said: “Counterfeit goods are not a victimless crime – they undermine legitimate businesses, put consumers at risk, and often fund organised criminal activity. This successful seizure demonstrates our commitment to tackling crime and protecting both the public and honest traders. We will continue to work tirelessly with our partners to ensure Merthyr Tydfil remains a safe and fair place to shop and do business.”
