Cylch Meithrin Y Gurnos awarded best Welsh playgroup in South East Wales

The Mudiad Meithrin Annual Awards Ceremony, held 14 October, aims to recognise and celebrate the excellent work achieved at Mudiad Meithrin’s Welsh-medium playgroups and day nurseries across Wales.

Leanne Marsh, Head of Services Development for Mudiad Meithrin said:
“Our Awards Ceremony is a wonderful way to raise the profile of the workforce and early years settings and shows how important this service is to the local community and to the economy. We received over 300 nominations this year, and it’s a lovely way for the staff and volunteers to be recognised by being nominated by the parents of the children in their care.”

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is delighted to announce our Cylch Meithrin Y Gurnos was awarded Best Playgroup in South East Wales.

Councillor Michelle Symonds, Welsh Language Champion said;
“The Local Authority is extremely proud to hear that the Cylch Meithrin in Gurnos has won the award for the best Cylch Meithrin in South East Wales.

“Growing Welsh-medium education is a key element of our Welsh in Education strategic plan and this award supports our ambition.

“The playgroup is a new addition to the community, only opening its doors in January 2023, so this truly is a fantastic achievement. Well done to the staff and management committee who have worked hard to develop the setting since it has opened. Llongyfarchiadau i bawb!”
