Don’t forget your ID at this year’s polling stations!

Just a polite reminder to residents that in some elections in Wales, like Police and Crime Commissioner elections, UK parliamentary by-elections, and recall petitions, voters will need to show photo ID at the polling station. However, for Senedd and local council elections, no photo ID is required.

Please ensure that if you do not have an acceptable form of identification, you will need to apply for a free voter ID document before the deadline on Wednesday 24 April 2024.

You can apply for a free voter ID document, known as a Voter Authority Certificate, if:

• you don't have an accepted form of photo ID
• you're not sure whether your photo ID still looks like you
• you're worried about using an existing form of ID for any other reason, such as the use of a gender marker
