To mark the 10-year anniversary of the Welsh Government's incredible school holiday enrichment programme, Food and Fun, children from participating schools were invited to get creative and design a commemorative emblem.

We're thrilled to announce that the winner of this fantastic competition is a talented pupil, Troy Powell, from our very own Goetre Primary School in Merthyr Tydfil!

The competition saw an impressive 169 entries from across the whole of Wales, each one showcasing the imagination and skill of the young designers. With the help of Yogi Communications, a shortlist was carefully selected, and the winning design was brought to life in a stunning digital version that will be used throughout the year by the Food and Fun community.

Cllr Gareth Lewis, Cabinet Member of Education, said: "We're absolutely delighted to see the creativity and talent of our young people shine through in this competition. Food and Fun has been a game-changer for so many children in Wales, providing them with a safe, fun, and nurturing environment during the school holidays. This milestone anniversary is a testament to the programme's success, and we're grateful to everyone involved, especially our amazing pupils who made this competition so special."

"We're over the moon to have a winner from our local area," added Cllr Gareth Lewis. "It's a wonderful achievement, and we can't wait to see the winning emblem in action. This competition has not only celebrated the 10-year anniversary of Food and Fun but has also highlighted the incredible talent and creativity of our young people. We're so proud of each and every one of them!"

Fairyal Pabani, School Catering Manager & LA Lead for Food & Fun, added: “ I am absolutely delighted and so proud of Troy’s achievement.  It will be a very memorable and delightful Summer to be able to use a Merthyr Tydfil winning emblem! Well Done Troy!!”
