In a landmark decision reflecting spiritual inspiration and modern youth leadership, Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic School will officially change its name to Saint Carlo Acutis Catholic School following his recent canonization.

Gareth Lewis, Cabinet Member for Education, commented: "This renaming represents more than an administrative change - it's a celebration of a young person who transformed digital platforms into powerful tools for faith and compassion."

The school, which unified four Catholic educational sites on September 1st, 2022, was originally named after Carlo Acutis by Archbishop George Stack. Carlo, who passed away at 15 from leukaemia, became known as the "Millennial Saint" for his extraordinary use of technology to document Eucharistic miracles and support marginalised communities.

Executive Headteacher Sarah Hopkins shared, "Carlo's story resonates deeply with our students. He demonstrates that young people can be profound agents of spiritual and technological change, showing how faith can be authentically communicated in the digital age."

Pope Leo XIV canonized Carlo on September 7th, 2025, recognising two miraculous attributions and his remarkable life dedicated to serving others. The school will commemorate this momentous occasion with year-long celebrations, culminating in the official name change.

The renaming symbolises a powerful message of hope, technological engagement, and spiritual commitment for contemporary youth.
