The planned works will include extensive roofing repair and restoration of the existing windows, along with interior upgrades designed to protect and enhance the historic building. While the museum and tearooms will be temporarily closed, the castle grounds will remain open for public enjoyment.
Visitors should note some temporary changes:

- No parking available on the castle forecourt
- Grounds remain accessible to residents and visitors
The restoration project represents a significant commitment to preserving Merthyr Tydfil's rich cultural heritage. Detailed improvements will help protect the castle's historic structure and ensure it continues to serve as an important community landmark.
Brent Carter, Leader of the Council commented: "This restoration is a crucial investment in our local heritage. We're committed to maintaining Cyfarthfa Castle as a treasured community asset and ensuring its structural integrity for years to come."
