MTCBC Budget 2026/27

The Council’s 2026/27 budget proposal will go to Cabinet and Full Council on Monday 23rd February 2026.
Next year’s annual budget of £183.69m has been considered using information gathered from residents during the budget consultation process, and – if approved – will include:
- Prioritising school budgets, with no cuts planned for 2026-27
- Protecting vital children’s and adult’s social care
- No reductions in core service delivery
- Highways improvements, including road and footpath repairs
- Funding for playgrounds, sports fields, and community facilities across the whole County Borough
- Investment in key assets, such as Cyfarthfa Castle and Redhouse
- Town Centre investments
- Strengthened homelessness support
- A slightly lower than anticipated Council Tax increase of 4.95%
