PONTSTICILL ROAD REMEDIATION SCHEME

A scheme has now been designed and agreed in principal by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, Natural Resources Wales, and the relevant private land owners. A successful tender process has also been completed and the contract has been awarded to Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Limited.

The works will involve the following:

• Edge beam replacement and strengthening within the roadway.
• The raising and re-construction of the carriageway to facilitate new drainage channels.
• Construction of a reinforced earth slope and associated drainage infrastructure.
• Installation of several block stone cascades to manage surface water run off and formalise the existing steep channels.
• Replacement of manholes installed above the landslip area.
• Installation of five new highway culverts to replace the existing damaged culverts below Pontsticill Road.

To enable these works to be undertaken safely, Pontsticill Road will need to remain closed for the duration of the construction period. Works are scheduled to start week commencing 28^th September 2026, with planned completion currently anticipated by the end of March 2027.
