Wales’ first dedicated floral art festival launches this October

A brand-new floral festival is set to make history in Wales this autumn. Rooted in Wales Flower Festival 2026: A Celebration of Sustainable Floral Artistry will take place on 2nd to 4th October 2026 at the iconic Cyfarthfa Castle, bringing together creative floral design, sustainability, and community through visual displays and hands-on activities.

This event, the first of its kind in Wales, will showcase the very best of Welsh floral art. With a strong emphasis on identity and connection, this year’s theme, Cynefin, “Belonging,” invites participating florists to explore what it means to be rooted in Wales. Entry is open to florists and artists who live in Wales, or who were born in Wales, maintaining a connection to Welsh culture and place.

Visitors can expect a varied and engaging programme suitable for all ages. Highlights include:

• A curated floral art exhibition in the Castle, featuring innovative, sustainable designs
• Live demonstrations from leading Welsh florists
• Talks exploring topics such as temperate rainforests, sustainability, and floristry
• Greenhouse sessions with light-touch classes and insights into the Castle’s grounds
• Creative craft activities for children, making it a welcoming event for families

Sustainability lies at the heart of the Rooted In Wales Flower Festival. All installations and artworks will include the use of locally grown Welsh flowers, foraged natural materials, and a strict commitment to avoiding single-use floral foam.

This festival celebrates Welsh floristry while championing sustainable practices and our natural environment. Set against the backdrop of Cyfarthfa Castle, the festival promises to be both inspiring and educational, celebrating not only the beauty of flowers but also the artists’ connection to Wales. Entry to the castle and festival is £3.50 for adults and under 16s go free, entry to lectures will be £2 per person, visitors are welcome to explore the Castle and its grounds throughout the day.
