Students across Merthyr Tydfil celebrate GCSE Results Day! 🎓✨

Today we return to our Secondary Schools across Merthyr Tydfil, where there are nerves and excitement in the corridors from the students who are celebrating their GCSE results and deciding their next steps.   

Councillor Brent Carter, Leader of the Council, said: “It was wonderful to spend time in schools this morning and experience the excitement and anticipation alongside students and their families. Best of luck to everyone as you embark on the next stage of your journey, wherever it may lead.”

Whether they're moving on to college, an apprenticeship, training or employment, this is the start of an exciting new chapter. The atmosphere at the schools has been wholehearted with teachers, friends and families all celebrating this fantastic milestone and supporting those who may not have achieved the grades that were expected.

Councillor Gareth Lewis, Cabinet Member for Education, Culture and Welsh Language, commented: “As you look ahead, remember that every journey is different. Whatever path you choose, continue to work hard, stay open-minded, and never stop believing in what you can achieve."

Ryan Morgan, Director of Education, added: “I am incredibly proud of what the students have achieved. Across Merthyr Tydfil, we have talented, resilient and ambitious young people, and today is a chance to celebrate that.”
