Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council (MTCBC) proudly announce the opening of The Flowers, a groundbreaking residential facility designed to provide comprehensive support for looked-after children.

Attended by Dawn Bowden MS, Minister for Children and Social Care of Wales, The Flowers represents a £3.6 million investment from the Welsh Government's Housing with Care Fund, supported by the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Regional Partnership, promising to revolutionise care services for vulnerable young people.

The state-of-the-art facility will provide a nurturing home for up to 12 young people, offering critical services including longer-term accommodation, emergency assessments, and specialised support for those with additional needs.

Cllr Louise Minett-Vokes, Cabinet Member for Social Care commented: "We're dedicated to helping people with care and support needs live independently. The Flowers is a shining example of our commitment to providing essential accommodation and support for those who need it most."

This innovative project emerges from MTCBC's remarkable transformation, expanding from zero children's homes in 2022 to multiple facilities by 2025, demonstrating an unprecedented commitment to child welfare.

The Flowers isn't just a building—it's a beacon of hope, offering a safe haven for young people facing challenging circumstances. By prioritising compassionate, high-quality care, the facility aims to empower vulnerable youth and support their journey towards a brighter future.
