Treharris lights switch-on a resounding success

Residents and visitors flocked to Treharris town centre for the first Christmas lights switch-on in three years.

The annual Christmas fair saw Treharris Square come alive with a performance by local acoustic Irish band Fiddler’s Elbow, with a range of food, drink and gift stalls run by local groups and businesses.

The lights were switched on by Mayor of Merthyr Tydfil Cllr Declan Sammon and Santa - aka Cllr Gareth Richards - while Treharris Community Centre hosted Santa’s Grotto and carol singing led by Edwardsville Primary School Choir.
