The Mine recruitment event

Residents of Merthyr Tydfil and beyond interested in a career in hospitality are being offered the chance to find out what positions are available at one of the county borough’s newest and most popular restaurants.

The Mine at CF47 & Castelany's Fine Dining, which opened almost a year ago, is a Welsh-Italian colliery-themed restaurant, tapas bar, wine bar and music venue in Merthyr Tydfil town centre.

The restaurant is looking to take on more ‘front of house’ staff and the Council’s Employability team is supporting it by helping to stage a recruitment day at The College Merthyr Tydfil next Wednesday, 9 November, 2022.

There is a range of positions available at The Mine, with staff needed to manage bookings, greet guests, escort them to tables and take orders.

Taking place from 1-3.30pm in the College Atrium, representatives from The Mine will be there to outline the opportunities and encourage people to take up this great offer of local employment within a buoyant industry.

The restaurant is co-owned by Managing Director Stuart James and award-winning Head Chef Marius Castelany, a qualified cookery teacher and completed his scholarship with ‘Godfather of Italian cuisine’ Antonio Carluccio.

The Mine at CF47 is one of the businesses to benefit from the Council’s Meanwhile scheme, which supports new enterprises to open premises in vacant buildings in the town centre.

The formerly derelict Bowen’s Court building is also the 12th to have undergone major redevelopment as part of the Council’s Pontmorlais Townscape Heritage Scheme since its launch in 2011.
