We’re getting ready for 20mph

The introduction of Welsh Government’s national 20mph default speed limit on 17th September 2023 is fast approaching.
To make sure we’re ready for the deadline our Highways team is busy preparing, carrying out works such as:
- Removing existing 30mph signs
- Installing new 20mph and advisory signs
- Decluttering redundant signs
- Replacing mains powered signs with solar powered units
- Installing new road markings
- Removing redundant road markings
Over the coming weeks the teams will be working in:
Abercanaid, Pentrebach, Trefechan, Cefn Coed Y Cymmer, Aberfan, Pontsticill, Bedlinog, Quaker’s Yard, Georgetown, Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Vale, Edwardsville, Gellideg and Heolgerrig.
