We’re getting ready for 20mph

The introduction of Welsh Government’s national 20mph default speed limit on 17^th September 2023 is fast approaching.  

To make sure we’re ready for the deadline our Highways team is busy preparing, carrying out works such as:

• Removing existing 30mph signs
• Installing new 20mph and advisory signs
• Decluttering redundant signs
• Replacing mains powered signs with solar powered units
• Installing new road markings
• Removing redundant road markings

Over the coming weeks the teams will be working in:  

Abercanaid, Pentrebach, Trefechan, Cefn Coed Y Cymmer, Aberfan, Pontsticill, Bedlinog, Quaker’s Yard, Georgetown, Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Vale, Edwardsville, Gellideg and Heolgerrig.
