Off Grid Heating Fuel Support Scheme 2026

If you are eligible for Council Tax Reduction because you are on a low income, and you rely on heating oil or LPG to heat your home, you are eligible for a one-off £200 payment.

What do I need to do?

If you are already receiving Council Tax Reduction and your home is not connected to the gas grid, you will be contacted by the Benefits Section to invite you to apply.

What do I need to provide?

  • A completed application form (which you will be sent, or you can request)
  • Confirmation of your heating fuel type by supplying an invoice or bill from within the last 12 months
  • Bank details and a recent bank statement for the account the payment can be made into.

What if I use off grid fuel, and am on a low income, but don’t currently receive Council Tax Reduction?

If you rely on heating oil or LPG to heat your home and you do not currently claim Council Tax Reduction then please check your eligibility to Council Tax Reduction here:

You should then submit the application form, that you will be sent, as soon possible. The latest date for applications is 30 September 2026.
