About
MTCBC's Aspire Shared Apprenticeship Programme has over 7 years’ experience in supporting young people into apprenticeships and continues to be a cornerstone of opportunity and growth for aspiring professionals across the region. Since its launch, Aspire has supported hundreds of apprentices on their journey to meaningful careers—and 2025 marks a record-breaking milestone, with over 140 individuals currently engaged in apprenticeships or pre-apprenticeship placements designed to get them apprenticeship-ready.
Aspire is proud to offer apprenticeships across all sectors, from Level 2 through to Degree level, ensuring that every candidate—regardless of background or ambition—has access to a pathway that suits their goals. The Aspire Team have a rich knowledge of both internal and external requirements in regard to recruiting and mentoring apprentices and businesses alike to ensure they get the right support for a successful apprenticeship journey.
What sets Aspire apart is its Shared Apprenticeship model, which provides a unique and flexible experience for both the Apprentice and the Host Company. This approach maximises the apprentice journey by offering tailored placements, real-world experience, and the chance to build a diverse professional network.
Supporting our Apprentices
Every apprentice benefits from comprehensive mentoring support throughout their programme, ensuring they are guided, encouraged, and empowered every step of the way. Our dedicated team works closely with candidates and host employers to create a nurturing and productive environment that leads to long-term success.
We also support and facilitate the rotation of apprentices within various host employer settings should the apprentice be unable to complete their framework with their main host employer or the host employer unable to commit to a full-time apprenticeship offer. The Aspire programme links with a number of Work Based Learning providers that can support the young people on their journey to gaining an apprenticeship.
Our aim is to support those individuals that would not usually have access to apprenticeship opportunities, utilising our internal programmes, External contacts and partners to offer these new apprenticeship opportunities.
Aspire will create apprenticeship opportunities within all sectors up to level 3 and where necessary support onto HNC/HND as long as this is deemed essential to their further progression. Using our knowledge and expertise, Aspire ensure that the opportunities that are created will have realistic job opportunities at the end of the apprenticeship and the relevant frameworks that can be delivered against their future job roles.
Apprenticeship Framework
In Wales an apprentice will follow an approved Welsh Apprenticeship Framework. They ensure an apprentice has the relevant knowledge, skills and qualifications.
Frameworks are available in 23 sectors. Each framework provides the pathways available and contains the following:
- entry requirements (what you will need to start an apprenticeship in a particular field)
- levels available within the sector and progression options
- examples of job roles
- qualifications you will gain after successfully completing an apprenticeship
- average length of time it takes to complete an apprenticeship by level
- any additional learning to support the apprenticeship
Apprenticeship Pathways
Pathways are options or routes available within the framework and are based on specific occupations or job roles. They provide the apprentice with options to support their career choices. All apprenticeship frameworks must meet the statutory requirements set out in the Specification of Apprenticeship Standards in Wales (SASW).
Aspire Project Aims/Ambitions/Commitment:
- The Apprenticeship project aims to provide a robust and supportive apprenticeship programme within various sectors up to Level 3 (HNC/HND to be considered).
- To develop a highly skilled, confident, empowered and motivated individual who will hopefully go on to secure sustainable employment within the identified sector.
- Support participants through their apprenticeship framework based on the host/employer’s needs. This will support the individual into FTE and will support the Host/Employer with the relevant mentoring and guidance.
- All participants will gain a nationally recognised apprenticeship framework qualification.
- Intense Mentoring and guidance throughout the framework delivery for both apprentice and host company. Plugging the gap that is currently missing within mainstream apprenticeship support.
Host Employer Incentives:
- We will discuss incentives with Host Employers should finances be a barrier to recruiting or retaining an apprentice.
Whether you're a young person looking to kickstart your career or a business eager to invest in future talent, the Aspire Shared Apprenticeship Programme is your gateway to growth, innovation, and excellence.
