Flying Start Parenting
Parenting support is a specific entitlement within Flying Start.
All parents/carers who live in a Flying Start area will be offered parenting support with STEP.
This includes delivery of evidenced based parenting programmes which can be delivered in groups or in one-to-one settings at home or in the local community.
The Merthyr Tydfil Flying Start Parenting offer is based on the following 3 themes:
- perinatal and support in the early years early
- intervention approaches to supporting vulnerable parents
- programmes to support parents in positive parenting
The STEP service has a team of professionals to work with every parent referred to identify individual needs, and any barriers to engaging. They focus on ensuring clear pathways for support are developed and highlighted amongst all partners including the other Flying Start entitlements where appropriate. Programmes are led and delivered by STEP.
